General FAQ about my photo sessions

Some common, general FAQ about my photo sessions questions and maybe some other more complicated questions that I get on a regular basis. If you are looking to book a session or perhaps have already done your session and have some questions, this general FAQ about my photo sessions may help! You are always welcome to email me your questions as well!

How soon will I get my photos back after my session?

If you are doing a normal 1-hour session, my usual turnaround time is 2 weeks. If you booked a session during a busy season (October-November), then that time might get pushed to 3 weeks.
For a wedding, my normal turnaround is 6 to 8 weeks. But can be sooner!
For mini-sessions, this really depends on when you book your session. If you booked one of the first dates, then you are likely to have your photos back within a week. But if you booked on the last day of a consecutive 5-day mini-session marathon, then it may be closer to the 2-week mark. I promise your photos back within 2 weeks.

What happens if the weather is going to be completely awful on the date of my outdoor session?

If it is going to be raining, then we will reschedule. I will move your retainer to the rescheduled date. If it looks like it may just be misting, or the storm may or may not hit our area we can risk it! Sometimes, storm skies are some of the best backdrops and as long as it is not raining hard, my gear can take it.

What if we have a super windy day? ( 20+ MPH winds) If your session is a large group (3+ people), then I recommend rescheduling. Trying to tame hair on several people is a challenge. But if is an engagement shoot, maternity shoot, or something where there is just one head of long hair we have to worry about, we can make the wind work with us.

What if it’s going to be super cold? This is where you need to make the call. I can bundle up with layers, hats, and warm boots. But you will most likely not be wearing your winter coat during a session. I have found that adults can bear the cold and can warm up in between poses. But if you will have small children involved, I recommend rescheduling. Small children will not tolerate the cold and you end up with snotty noses, red faces, tears, and frigid little hands.

Do I get print rights to my photos?

Yes, you do! You get print rights, not copyrights. The copyright will stay with me, since I took the photos. But I will give you a print release. You can also order prints within my gallery, it will save you time and get your photos ordered straight to your door from a professional lab!

How many photos do I get back?

This is a hard one to answer since it is dependent on your session and how much time we spent taking photos. I don’t give a number of photos you will get back since it depends on how well kids cooperated, how many times we switched locations, and other variables. You don’t get a set number back. If we took 150 great photos, you will get all of those. If we struggled with a kiddo who was not feeling it and we got 50 great photos, then you will get all of those.

Do you provide props?

I can! But we have to have a discussion about it! I have a lot of small props like ladders, buckets, boxes and such that are great for kiddos. If you are looking for something bigger like a couch or something, I will have to do some arranging to make that happen. But always ask!
