about  jeanize

Welcome! I am so excited that you landed on my site and that we may have an opportunity to get to know each other! I love sun-soaked laughter in open Kansas fields, twirling by the river downtown in a spontaneous rain shower and capturing the last sun rays of your wedding day frozen in time.

I am a portrait photographer located in Wichita, KS. My goal in photography is to capture moments in time that you will forever treasure. Timeless, classic, natural and joyful images are my passion. I want to make sure that when you look at your photos 20 years from now, you can't tell they are dated by a trendy filter from now. They will always be beautiful and timeless. I want to make sure you look your best, by directing you in flattering poses. And last but not least, I want to make sure your images represent joy.

Want more? Keep scrolling, because I don't always have a camera in hand. Sometimes it's a poodle, a margarita, my husband's hand, a latte, or the tow rope of our boat!

I was on my knees in the dew-soaked grass early in the morning getting a headache from the macro lens and still, I wouldn’t stop hitting the shutter button. I couldn’t believe the photos I captured. Those pin-sized water droplets looked like huge diamonds on the back of my camera and they sparkled like real diamonds under the bright morning sun. Five years later, I was photographing actual real, sparkling diamonds (minus the soaked through jeans) but it all started on that sunny morning in 2010.
I didn't start photographing weddings until 2015. But they are now my most favorite thing to capture. The details, the color pallets, the dresses and the locations all make me so excited. Though I still get geeked out with sparking dew drops on grass leaves.

I am now photographing beautiful people and spending a lot of time in my brand new studio. I love meeting, forming relationships and really connecting with my clients. So much so that some of my best friends are now past photography clients. People are always so weirded out by it, but when you think about it, I capture some of the most important, life-changing moments and these moments are normally surrounded by your closest friends and family. I get to know my clients so well that you guys feel like close friends.

I got married in 2017 to the man with the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen, Brent. Together we have 3 miniature poodles that are our fur babies. We live on a 5 acre area, where you can find an open field, a old barn from the 40s and my little studio. Our little piece of land is our happy place. We host a lot of parties, gatherings and love to have chill nights drinking a beer (or cocktail for me) on our patio with twinkling lights and a warm fire.

We even got married in our backyard. We looked at so many venues, but nothing felt right. We were able to set up our yard as we pleased, with lots of twinkling lights, fires and greenery. I can't really imagine doing it anywhere else. It's also why I do all of my minis in our yard, it works so great!

We spend most of our time outdoors when relaxing or having fun. When not in our own yard, we love to go to the lake on our boat. I feel I am living my best life when I am floating in the middle of the lake, with a drink in one hand and the hot sun hitting my skin. There's not much that beats boating with friends and chilling on the lake during a hot summer day. It's my favorite.

I don't have an exact date for when I started this photography adventure. I always tell people that it started as a fun hobby that eventually grew big enough that strangers started contacting me for sessions. When that started happening I knew I had to at least separate my personal life from photography and that lead me to create the Jeanize Cilliers Photography page on August 12, 2012. So I use that as my starting date!

When I first started photographing strangers, I was doing mostly families, seniors and engagement sessions. As I grew more confident I started dipping my toes into the wedding scene. After I met Brent, I started offering mini sessions, which really took off for me. It wasn't until I built the studio that I started with boudoir.

I have learned so much over the last 10 years. The type of clients love working with, the type of sessions I love. I really don't have any ideas of how many sessions I have done or how many weddings. Weddings I believe is around 100+. But I wouldn't be here without everyone who has supported me and trusted me with their photos. Thank you so much.
